Notes from building and running my products. Numbers come from my logs and tool output.

  1. Cloudflare was blocking GPTBot and ClaudeBot on my site. How I found it and turned it off

My personal site returned 403 to GPTBot, ClaudeBot and CCBot while robots.txt allowed everything. The cause was a Cloudflare zone setting. How to test for it with curl, the fix, and why I cache AI crawlers instead of blocking them.

  2. My nightly pgBackRest backup made Postgres slow. A memory ceiling helped more than an I/O cap

Disk was 13–23% busy and CPU mostly idle, yet page loads hit 28.8 s during backups. The cause was page cache eviction. How I ran pgBackRest under systemd-run with MemoryHigh and an I/O cap on a Pigsty host, with before/after numbers.

  3. Free backlink directories that actually worked for my indie launches (October 2026)

Notes from about 200 directory submissions for three solo-built products: which free directories went live with a dofollow link, how long review took, and the traps (fake dofollow emails, last-step badge demands, expiring free tiers).

  4. A solo developer’s launch checklist: day 0 to week 4

The launch checklist I now reuse for every product I build alone: technical SEO before day 1, where to post and how often, what got my X account locked, and what to check in week 4. Built from real launches, with the failures kept in.
